I take issue with the “terrible” review Feb 2017. I’m surprised to see anyone write about a desperately bad meal and slow service at Al Fresco, sounds like trolling to me, and if a group of 9 are “constantly” ordering drinks, I would prefer not to be sitting anywhere near! Al Fresco is not a fast food outlet, it is... More

Tried this restaurant again after a 20 year gap to see if it had improved since my last visit, alas it hadn't. Restaurant was only half full (21 diners including our party of 9). Service exceptionally slow with food order taken 35-40 minutes after we sat down. Starters arrived after a further considerable amount of time. I ordered a selection... More

Management response:

Al Fresco is a small restaurant with seating downstairs for 30 and a further 20 upstairs. 8pm on a Saturday night can be busy. All meals are individually cooked and prepared at the time of ordering and our policy is that "we do not serve fast food but good food as fast as we can". As a good will gesture... More

Great quality food, lovely decor, authentic food and service. Coupled with the super value lunch deal was faultless. See you again soon!

We have eaten at Al Fresco on a few occasions recently, never been disappointed. We ate again on Sunday evening, we had not booked and although the restaurant was very busy, we were able to find a table. My partner had King Prawns from the specials board, he said they were the best he had ever eaten. I choose pasta,... More

We were the only table in the restaurant-passed by at lunchtime, thought the lunch special looked good - any pizza or pasta with wine for £7.50 each. Thought we would also purchase soft drinks before ordering the main - (one calzone and one pizza) the calzone arrived (cold in the middle) and a chicken pasta dish (bit different to my ordered... Always go back to this place, food is gorgeous and staff are attentive. Had the scallops and chorizo which went well, and then the lobster ravioli, again delicious

Small celebration for my son, booked a table although to be fair it was a midweek tea time affair but we wanted to be guaranteed a place. It does get busy and is a little on the cosy side. Met warmly,Peroni and three cokes thanks mate. Nice choices on menu, my lad had usual pasta ragu and young un ordered... More

This place is the best Italian restaurant I've ever eaten in and that includes when I've been to Turin and Lake Como and my girlfriend said exactly the same. For starters we had the mussels and the meatballs and as mains we had 2 fillet steaks in different sauces all of which was cooked to perfection. For dessert we both... More

Nice place for a pizza or Italian fare but can be a little cramped and noisy. Private functions catered for. Perfectly acceptable menu and tasty food. Have visited a number of times over the years and always pleasant though the last occasion would appear to have been peculiar due to a number of mistakes during the evening by waiting staff-... We wanted to celebrate my sons exam results and his favourite food is here at Al Fresco . He ordered seafood calzone which was gorgeous. Although the restaurant was really busy, we were still served quickly and piping hot .
