Today we visited the Cheshire cheese Inn as a group of 20. I had phoned other places but this was the only place in the area that would take bookings. We were given a lovely place to sit together as a group. They had got all of the orders right, the food came out together and was hot and tasty.... More

We came here as a group one Friday evening and had a fantastic meal. It is a very small pub and with low ceilings it can feel cramped when full. The staff were great and we had no room for puddings. Highly recommended.

We visited yesterday for Sunday lunch after having a trip out to the surrounding hills. We found the staff to be friendly, attentive and accommodating. The roast dinner was good and there was plenty of it, the roast pork was delicious but the Beef was served " well done" and personally I would have preferred it much rarer but it... More

Popped in late afternoon on Sunday for a bite to eat and a quick drink after a nice long walk and we were not disappointed! Friendly service, brilliant drinks and an amazing beef roast dinner! We will definitely be back next time we're in the area! Fantastic!

Beautiful, quaint old world pub full of character, low ceilings, history and quirky rooms, it was just pity about the service we received from the landlord. After a lovely walk in the peaks with friends this was our first stop. The bar is small and the obvious regulars were sat at the bar which made getting there very tight. My... More

We had lunch here, the menu was what every pub should aim for, straightforward food celebrating local produce. They also have a good range of beer. Dog friendly warm and welcoming, fab!

As visitors to the peaks we felt we infringed on the local pub especially in comparison with the atmosphere in others we visited. It was a good pub inside. Food was ok but inflexible for veganism (products that didn't need to have diary in did have diary in - an easy fix to be flexible).

Hi - thanks for the comment. We encourage our team to be friendly to all, so we are sorry to hear you felt that wasn't the case. We've passed your comments on to the kitchen staff who will look into the vegan options. More

Right from the beginning, we had really friendly service. Our boys are (at the moment) a little fussy with what they'll eat and my wife is coeliac so, ideally, the dishes are made onsite so that all dietary requests and requirements (respectively) can be catered for; that's the case here. Wonderfully succulent and tasty lamb and venison steaks came on... More
