Good ice coffee and a nice terrace to get away from the busy Morogoro streets. Behind/ next to a gasstation.

We stopped here as a part of a safari while on the way to Mikumi. At first, you pull into a gas station and have no idea it exists. The gas station and its flow are not visible from the restaurant. The menu was extensive with a choice for anybody. The greek salad was nice. Macaroni mince pie was tasty.... More

4 stars by Morogoro standards. Worth multiple return lunches for sure. Good sandwiches and bread-based meals. Oddly, it has quite a relaxed ambiance despite being physically attached to a petrol station. While most of the menu is good, stay away from the "Thai" dishes. Fiercely spiced without the benefit of flavor. And of course, like most of Morogoro restaurants, expect... More

We enjoyed eating here several times while in Morogoro. Nothing fancy but the food was good and reasonably priced for the amount received. Overall a good bargain. Service was friendly but slow (but that is everywhere we went in Tanzania!)

When here several times over several days seems like it is a hub to the Americans. Maybe because of the good food and cool atmosphere. I did because of the ice coffees The prices are comfortable and services are far better than other places here. Not to far off the main drag either.

Great food. Cheap burgers are large and tasty. The KFC style chicken isn't bad but the Beef Pilau is fantastic. Coffee here is great too. Service is friendly and food comes out quick. Also they do a cracking breakfast. Trouble is they shut after lunch and aren't open on Sundays.

I was surprised by how good the Thai curry was considering it's in Morogoro and not an Asian restaurant. Most of the food on the menu is pretty good and the service is also pretty friendly. Good place if you crave non-Indian, non-Tanzanian food.

ok, this might not be an ideal location, but there is nothing else in Morogoro that offers what Ricky's does- good food, good service, clean loos and helpful staff. Interesting to see reviewers moaning about the expats but people vote with their feet so I would say if you are an ex pat and don't want to eat expat food... More

Description
There is a gas station on the north side of the Old Morogoro Road between the New Acripole Hotel and the Post Office - on the right hand side of the gast station is a place known to every ex-Pat in Morogoro... Ricky's Cafe! The prices are high, the service is a bit slow and the menu on the chalkboard is replete in bad english offering (like "pimp steak" - really, you can't make this stuff up) -- but dang it sometimes you just need a great milkshake and cheeseburger. The atmosphere is nice for being right next to a gas station - a thatched roof under thick trees - so it is shady and cool. The bathrooms are clean, western and they work (but the locks are a bit wacky - you have to really want or need to go!). The worst part of eating here is, well, the ex-pats. It's a bit weird being somewhere in the middle of Africa where whites outnumber blacks by about 10 to 1. The place caters to westerners and it's the only place in Morogoro that does. When you need a mental health break, head to Ricky's Cafe.
