We went to Shakatari Too to celebrate my daughter's birthday. She and her partner are both Vegan so finding good places to go that also have food I enjoy isn't that easy. Until now. I enjoyed the Curry Enak Enak, and also the croquettes were great. It's not too pricey, and the service was terrific. I brought a vegan cake... More

I hadn't been to Shakahari in years and then only to the one in Carlton. The food here was delicious and we enjoyed everything. There are plenty of vegan / gluten free/ non dairy options available as well.

We have walked past this restaurant many times, but tonight we decided to go in, we were not disappointed. The food was delicious. We shared an entree of avocado wedges wrapped with capsicum - the dipped in rice tempura batter & fried YUM. We shared our mains, vegetable curry & croquettes, both very tasty and equally as scrumptious.

My husband & I dined there last night. Very tasty vegetarian food, lots of dietary options, clean with a very friendly relaxed atmosphere, good service. Value for money. We plan on visiting again often.

It's truly astonishing the things that can be done with vegetables. I highly recommend a meal here, we've been to Shakahari and Shakahari Too several times and can't wait to go again. Love it!

We have eaten here before and just love it! The avocado magic is delicious but so is everything I think. The avocado "cheesecake" is just the best you could possible have for a dessert, amazing texture and taste! Wish I had of bought some to take home with us. Can't wait to return and recommend it highly.

This is the second time we've eaten in Shakahari too and I'm pleased to say it was just as good this time around. It's not a large menu, but everything sounds great and what we got lived up to the description. We started with the flatbread with a salsa of walnuts, hemp seeds and finely diced vegetables - I loved... More

Shakahari Too never fails to please avocado magic was delicious as were the mushroom dumplings. The mains of spaghetti, croquettes and tofu satay were full of flavour, fresh and yummy. The deserts which were shared were a real treat. The chocolate ice cream was to die for rich and creamy and amazing chocolate. We also had coconut ice cream, avocado... More

I'd heard about Shakahari in Carlton back in the 80's and based on my experiences in Vegetarian Cuisine where boiled vegetables are drowned in gravy and infused with Lentils, I was going with a couple of friends with a quiet discomfort. Well, fear no more! This was great of epic proportions. I started with a Matcha Matcha, a cold salad... More

Five of us had dinner at Shakahari Too in South Melbourne last night. We all had different menus ordered and none of us was in the least disappointed with their choice. Staff was observant and friendly. We also liked the Bhutan88 cocktail.

Staying in South Melbourne

Neighbourhood Profile
South Melbourne
South Melbourne hosts the city’s oldest continuous market, founded in 1867. Rows of neatly arranged fruit, vegetables and flowers splash yellows, greens and reds along the entire perimeter, where the whole neighbourhood gathers for Saturday feasts. Inside the hall, shoppers hover over the mouth-watering displays of delicatessens and specialty food shops. Further in, a bazaar full of giftware, clothing, and kitchen utensils completes the scene. Take a break to walk the wide and shady streets and stroll along the Victorian-era heritage terrace houses. But return to the market in time for some paella, simmering in three large frypans on the footpath and served straight onto your plate.
