We joined Tony and Gina for the valentines menu. Food as always was excellent with lovely big portions of fresh vegetables. Tony chose us some lovely red wine and we had a very pleasant evening. I only wish I could get there more often !

What a lovely traditional pub and very quirky, went with friends for a meal would definitely recommend the food was very well cooked and presented and the amount was very generous, I had the large chicken and leek pie and it was large it came with assortment of vegetables all cooked just right lovely sweet carrots. The pudding was scrumpy... More

Visited the Old Plough last night with my wife, son and his partner, to celebrate my sons Birthday. We have visited several times before but it was their first visit, we were not disappointed, fantastic quality food with amazing portions, and topped of with brilliant service. It's by no means the cheapest meal around but for value for money I... More

The Old Plough at Ashley has an amazing reputation and an avid following, however this gastro pub wasn't for me. The barman (owner ?) is quite grumpy and when he asks you if everything with the meal is alright, its more a challenge than a question. The portion sizes are far too big and it put my wife and I... We chose to go here after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent, and as many reviewers commented, the quantity and quality of the vegetables was very good. When the food came, a small army of vegetable bearing staff came trailing behind. The price is slightly expensive but you get what you... More

It's been 4-5 years since I ate at this restaurant and then it was fantastic with the best meat cuts and the best fish a menu could have and the amazing food and wine has not wavered one bit. Now I live closer I can come more often! The quality of food is amazing. For me being a fish eater... More

Consistently fantastic food, extensive menu, lots of fresh vegetables, and run by Tony and Gina with wit and charm. Still by far the best in the Newmarket area.

A tiny pub but so full of character!! The bar staff are really attentive and there is a good selection of wine to satisfy most people. There was eight of us for lunch and there was a selection of meat available for a Sunday roast and you could swap them around! I counted at least 10 different vegetables that came... More

Visit here whenever I am in the area and it is impossible to fault. The atmosphere is lovely, olde worlde and comfortable. The food is absolutely delicious, keep losing count of the vegetables that are offered with Sunday lunch but it's about 14! The service is very efficient so the food is always hot. Three courses for £22.00 is an... More
