Just had another excellent meal at Chequers Poaka Beck Restaurant. The Steaks are always delicious, gorgeous chips, mushrooms and tomato cooked to perfection. The tobacco onions are great and we had a blue cheese sauce this time that was really tasty. The wine is fairly priced and the service is friendly and efficient. Best meal in Dalton at the moment.

Food here was as good as I have had anywhere in the Furness area, pleasant staff who genuinely wanted you to have a good experience. Good size portions and all three courses were quality. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food on offer. Menu not extensive but quality is there. Will be returning without a doubt.

Arrived with my husband & nine year old son. We were asked where we would like to sit so I chose upstairs as I've been before & it's nicer & quieter up there. Myself & my son both chose the same mussels & prawn linguine but were told after placing the order, after the young lady had gone back downstairs... More

Chequer's Poaka Beck restaurant sets a new low. Terrible disjointed uncaring front-of-house service. Boiled meat, packet gravy, microwaved veg. Such a wretched looking plate that I almost sent it back untouched. I wish I had! The awful back-of-house hygiene means it came with an extra portion of food poisoning for both of us. Our common assessment - arrived at completely... More

Have visited once before previously and had the Chateaubriand recommended so my husband and I booked specifically to try it. We were not disappointed, a superbly cooked piece of meat which was one of the best meals I have had. The steak came on a bed of spinach with chips, seasoned onion crisps, a choice of two sauces and mushrooms... More

We've been here a few times recently and it's consistently good. We wanted to try the Chateaubriand which is for two to share. To be honest there was enough meat for three to share (we had to wrap and take some away with us) chips and trimmings were great as usual. The steak was superb, so tender. We had a... More
