My wife and I were craving Indian food, so I was glad we discovered this place. I tried the chicken curry, which was very good. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. My wife had the korma. She said it wasn't the best korma she...ever had, but it was okay. There were many choices on the menu, which I appreciated. One funny thing I did notice is that the combos included french fries. Maybe it's just me, but I find the idea of having french fries with a curry is kind of odd. Just my opinion. But overall, a nice place.More

Had a beef curry and was extremely dissapointed as it was no where near a true curry. The meals overall were truly underwhelming. Taste is NOT authentic, like a fast food place, at best. Had to pay extra for rice- $2 for a tiny bowl....Worst of all was the Naan bread-seemed stale and definitely not fresh.Yuk I would not go here for Indian food.More

I go here with friends every couple of months, we last went in April of 2021 and I was disappointed to see that photos of the dishes were not on the menu anymore. I’m pretty sure 85% of the people who go there will be...totally lost as to what to order now as there is no description of the dishes. The silliest change has to be the option of fries or onion rings that come with a combo that used to have rice (a much more suitable side). When I asked if I could have rice with my Indian food, not onion rings, she said no. Then for some odd reason they have added a bowl of chicken noodle soup as a free starter (again, not Indian at all?). When I said “How about instead of soup and onion rings I just get the small side of rice?” Still no! When the food came, there was literally TWO onion rings in a little dish, so I had to pay for 3/4 cup of steamed rice and wasted the soup and rings. Ridiculous. Otherwise, food is still great.More

We had traveled from Yarmouth to New Minas on a shopping trip and happened on Chrismaria by chance. Though small in size, the interior was were impressively furnished and sparklingly clean. A good start to an exceptional experience. My wife and I ordered the lamb...stew and the shrimp biriani, which were both excellent. Fortunately for us however, our waitress suggested we start with the soup of the day, curried chicken lentil, which turned out to be the real highlight of the meal. So much so that we left the restaurant with a take-out order of the soup in our hands. Every time we pass New Minas on our way to/from Halifax you can bet we will be making a detour into New Minas from now on.More

We ordered by phone for takeout. Kadai Chicken, Spicy Lamb Vindaloo, Palak Paneer (cheese & spinach), rice paratha & naan. On the Plus side: a) all three dishes tasted good (with maybe one exception - see below); b) there was plenty for the two of...us (plus leftovers for me - did I say I love leftovers?!?); c) the guy repeated my order twice, so I felt sure I was going to get what I wanted; d) everything was ready, on time & hot, when I arrived; e) the place looked clean & Covid-ready. There was one table occupied. However...... 1. I have never been asked how hot I wanted my Vindaloo! Is there even such a thing as a mild Vindaloo?!? I've been eating Vindalo for fifty years and it only comes in one shade - red hot!! 2. the Vindaloo looked the colour of Tandoori. That was plain weird. 3. the Kadai Chicken (AKA Karahi or Kadhai) looked distinctly unappetizing - and I mean without the (many, big) chicken lumps, it wouldn't look out of place in a baby's diaper. Fortunately, it smelled and tasted good! But hey, you coloured the Vindaloo Tandoori, couldn't you colour the Kadai a bit less poopy?!?? 4. the weakest of the three was the Palak Paneer, and that was because the paneer tasted like tofu (Was it tofu?!? Did they run out of cheese and subbed it for tofu? Inquiring taste buds want to know!). 5. and since I was asked how hot I wanted the Palak Paneer, and I answered hot, I can only blame myself for a side dish that left me sweating and glugging gallons of Italian grape juice (AKA - pinot grigio) 6. the naan was thin and quite un-naan like (and, for the reviewer who gave them 1 star, nothing like the excellent naan you get from Costco). It was OK, and did the job. 7. the paratha was quite good - I should have ordered three - it was quite small. Overall, mixed. Having never been to India, but having eaten curry on four continents over fifty years, I'm reluctant to call Chrismaria unauthentic. But tasty though it was, it certainly what we were used to. Value-wise, the prices were fair with the sole exception of the $15 Panak Paneer = way over-priced & not worth it. PS. There were some strange things on their menu, things I've not seen anywhere else.... "Pork cooked with Indian masala" Pork? In India?? Butter chicken and "Gravy made with onion, tomato, and added butter" Tomato?? Another reason to make me doubt their 'authenticity'.More

I have been here before, since it opened two years ago. The food is so good, and we’re so lucky to finally have some really good Indian food here in the Valley. I have my favorite dishes, like the beef curry and the vindaloo, but...I’ve tasted much of what’s on the menu and it’s all good. (The chicken samosas are amazing!) If you are familiar with Indian food you’ll find they have their own take on some dishes, but it’s always a pleasant surprise. Spicing and sauces are clearly fresh – they sometimes vary a little depending on which cook made it. Dishes are packed with flavour and they accommodate all tastes, from the mildest to the spiciest. The place is always clean and even through a couple of staff turnovers the service has been consistently great and friendly.More

Congratulation to the owners for braving out and opening an Indian restaurant in New Minas region. I was tiered of seeing Greasy Chinese food other than typical North American food. A group of families drove from Halifax to visit Noggins followed by Chris Maria hoping...to get a Keralian style food. However the food is typical Punjabi food. Couple of Kerala style Chicken or Fish dishes would be great to have. Please note they serve store bought naan and paratha although they do have a tandoor. Chicken Vindaloo was good. Lamb curry medium spice tasted sweet. Vegetable fried rice - very mild, no flavour as we expected hakka style rice. Same with Veg noodles, could be made with more ginger garlic and spice especially when the customers are Indian. I would suggest order spicy curries if you are from India. Tandoori, Kabab is good. Wings are the best item on the menu that are spiced with tandoori masala that taste awesome. Next time I till try vegetarian curries. Overall happy to have a Indian restaurant in New Minas and I wish good luck to the owners.More

We heard they had an excellent buffet and drove down from Halifax to try it. We were not disappointed. We had an wonderful meal, very well prepared and presented at a very reasonable price. Our waitress was warm, pleasant and professional, as was the chef...who inquired on our satisfaction. The restaurant was exceptionally clean. All in all, a very pleasant dining experience. You will not be disappointed.More
