Staying at Marriott Los Suenos for 4 nights in August. Have never been to Costa Rico so what are the "must do's"?

Head south :-))

Don't miss it. Anywhere south. But as south as you can make it.

Day trip to Manuel Antonio maybe? Tortuga Island is another one. Carara Park is up the road. What do you like to do?

If you would have time before or after, one thing that is terrific to do from that location is to use the Zuma Tours water Taxi that leaves from Herradura beach and goes across to the peninsula. You can easily have an awesome sightseeing boat ride/transfer and head to Montezuma for a few days.

It's likely that you'll already have stopped at 'the crocodile bridge' on your way from the airport, and if you like birds, take the sunset boat trip at Tarcoles. Yes, it's about the crocs, but the birds are plentiful, colorful and close-up.

Manuel Antonio NP is closed on Tuesdays, requires advance, online tickets and should not be missed on your short visit to this area.

If birds are your thing, then hire a guide and go EARLY morning to Carara NP (also requires online advance tickets).

Herradura is good for standup paddleboarding. No guide required. Rent a board at the beach.

There's a zipline nearby.

Mona Golosa chocolate farm.

Beginner surf lesson at Jaco beach.

Garabito's for local meal (also in Jaco) ('local' food doesn't exist inside Los Suenos).

The beach at Los Suenos is not particularly attractive but there is a hidden gem nearby to check out. Playa Blanca is lovely and accessible from Playa Mantas. Don’t go on weekends when it tends to be crowded. For more info on how to find it check out: https://www.twoweeksincostarica.com/playa-blanca-near-jaco/ and https://www.puravidamoms.com/playa-blanca-costa-rica/
