Hilton Toyko to Kabukicho ---evening walk??

During an upcoming short visit to Tokyo, my wife and I would enjoy taking an evening walk from the Hilton Tokyo (Shinjuku) to the dazzling lights of the Kabukicho area.

During the first hour or two of darkness, will we feel safe taking such a walk??

It will be safe even at midnight or past that. Just use your usual precautions and common sense.
