Are you returning back to Tokyo or departing Japan at Osaka?

Tokyo - Kyoto/Shin Osaka by Shinkansen oneway costs @14,000 yen, while the 7 days JR Pass costs 29,110 yen, so you don't need the Pass for oneway trip. The Pass is good for the round trip plus some side trips.

6. Re: jr pass

If you're doing that within 7 consecutive calendar days, then a JR pass is a good value.

How long is your trip? As Dave points out, for the 7 day pass your travel must be completed within 7 _consecutive_ days.
