can anyone inform me where the local people chose to eat in Pantai Cenang to get a more authentic dining experience. we are staying at the Meritus Perlangi. thank you
Lots of the locals eat at the small restaurants opposite Casa del Mar with the plastic chairs and table cloths but sadly Pantai Cenang is now aimed at tourists so the majority of the authentic restaurants have been demolished.
If you have transport there is still quite a few around the island and in Kuah Town.
For lunch try Aliah opposite the Surau in Lorong Surau
We found Warung Pak Tam Corner very good when we visited last year. The night markets are also good for local foods.
If you like Chinese food then try Happy Happy Restaurant just down from Casa del Mar. Also some of the very small places after Happy Happy serve very good Malay food. Maybe these places are not very good to look at but the food is good. If you want a change and fancy fine dining then you can't beat La Sal at Casa del Mar.
Kuah town has innumerable local restaurants. Very popular among locals and expats is Wonderland. Theo's is great too but long waiting times. Both you can bring your own wine; they give you ice and glasses; no corkage fee. Beer they sell very cheap.
Curry House for Indian food (Kamdar Road).
Another superb Indian is opposite of Langkawi Parade shopping mall. My top-favorite.
Water Garden is a hall, here are plenty small but great food stall. During the day, best for lunch. In the evening it is only 1 restaurant, similar to Wonderland.
For lunch there are plenty of options and food is mostly served in buffet style. On the road you find a lot of food stalls.
Typical breakfast is Nasi Lemak, comes in banana leave folded like a pyramid. 1 Ringgit.
Roti Canai is very popular and costs again about 1 RMEdited: 16 April 2018, 09:29
