Cataloochee to Clingmans Dome

Thanks for your help on last post, I think we will be checking out Mt. Sterling.

We are also driving to Clingman's Dome one day via the Blue Ridge Parkway. I know it's like a hour and half drive and we need to get their early to avoid the crowds as much as we can. I was thinking we could do a hike on the way back to our campsite at Cataloochee. Any suggestions on something 5-8 miles long that would close to that route?

Thanks again!

You might want to repost this on the Great smoky mountains national park, tennessee forum. Lots of info there about hikes. I hear Charles Bunion and Mount Le Conte are both good hikes. Haven't done them so don't know how close they are to Clingmans Dome. On the way back you could stop at Mingo Falls. A short walk, mostly steps but a nice Falls.
