Breathless Photo Thread

Since actual photos are appearing and will come on even more as guests arrive tomorrow, thought we could use a thread for new pics (not renderings).

I'll start with the latest from their twitter feed of a pool side picture:

Hi Mike, If the booking company/airline receives the lions share, wouldn't it stand to reason that booking directly with the hotel would be the cheapest alternative for the customer (and most beneficial for AMresorts, and owners). I've seen some postings to that effect where people received better deals but it must not be that great otherwise most of us would do it that way. Maybe I just follow the sheep into the Apple Vacation website and haven't really looked into it. I guess I could assume that they may not want anger their partners by undercutting them at every turn. I could see that as being counter-productive.

Thanks for putting a little more light on it. I am not in this particular industry but very interested in knowing how it is run.

The lion's share of revenue has to go to the resort. Food and liquor are not the only costs. Maintenance, electricity, employees, laundry, renovations, entertainment, etc. - these things are not free. Tour operators, travel websites, etc. no doubt get wholesale pricing, which they markup to the end user, but that represents a relatively small percentage of the end-user price. I would think that when you book direct with the hotel, they are making more profit, even if they are selling it for less, but I doubt it's a lot more.

The airlines have nothing to do with it. That's a separate cost. It may be included in a package through a tour operator, but underneath it, it's a separate cost that has nothing to do with the per diem rate at the hotel.

Thank you for all the photos of this new resort. I agree, it will fill a certain niche, if it lives up to the hype but it is not going to be added to my list anytime soon. With my luck, I'd fall in the moat and crack my head on the corner of the bar LOL, AND I'd be breaking their posted rules because alcohol might just be a factor and I would be near the pool.

My tastes run to the smaller, rustic type places. Those with lots of flora and fauna, big beach and well loved but clean rooms. Checked the rates out of YYZ for first week in December and could get a pretty good deal, but for $200 more could return to one of my favourites for a week, and for $250 more could spend a glorious 5 days in a great little AO property on my favourite stretch of beach.

But then, that's the beauty of PC - something for everyone!

Bigjim,

Your ability to pull and post these pictures are greatly appreciated so I don't want my next question to be taken out of context. Is there a reason why many of the photos seem to have a matte-like effect or finish? It almost seems like a slight haze over many yet a few appear clear or "normal". As mentioned, they are appreciated regardless.

Thanks and keep up the great work!

Does anyone know if the menus will be just the tasting menus after the opening? Or just the small selections like the one posted? Either way the selections look delicious, just curious :)
