September conditions

We are planning for a trip to Grenada in mid September, and will be staying for two weeks on Grenada and Carriacou.

And we are wondering about what to expect?

On this forum we found out that September mostly brings some showers during the day. Are these showers mostly heavy enough to spoil a day at the beach?

And how are the sea conditions during this period, is it still a quiet ocean, or are there big waves that would make swimming difficult?

And at last we read some topics of continues winds that can make a stay at the beach unpleasant.

besides the weather tips, we are also looking for some tips/locations to visit. On both island we will be renting a car.

I think it really depends on the weather pattern going on in that particular year. When we were there in September two years ago, we only generally got passing showers, never a complete washout day. A year ago I believe, they got more rain than usual so there were a couple of days where it did rain most of the day. One thing for sure, it will be hot and humid.

Ocean is generally calm that time of the year, unless there is a weather pattern brewing. December, January seems to be when the sea is a bit rougher.

As for things to visit, there are many beaches to explore such as Grand Anse, Morne Rouge (aka BBC), Magazine, Grooms, La Sagesse, Bathway, and Levera. There is the Belmonth spice plantation, nutmeg processing stations, and rum distilleries (Rivers Antoine) to be toured. Go up to the fort and enjoy the fantastic views. Visit the market in St. George's on a Saturday morning and buy fresh spices. You can also hike the waterfalls if you are into hiking.

In Carriacou, take an island tour. Catch a water taxi to Sandy Island. Head to the Lambi Queen on a Friday night, it is the hangout spot and the food is good.
