Cost of Rum?

Does anyone know the price of a bottle of rum near Rodney Bay?

Also where I can buy them?

And, if you buy duty free do you collect at airport or can you take with you from the shop.

Cheers

Depending on the type of rum you want it ranges from about I think EC$25-40 - about £6-10. The dearer one is Chairman's Reserve which is very good. You can buy it in the supermarket in Rodney Bay and it is the same price duty free even at the airport on your way home. If you are interested in tasting lots of rums you can visit the distillery near Marigot Bay where they have a tasting room - they also do a tour - Rythym and Rum - but it wasn't running the day we called by last month.

If you wait until you get to the airport to buy duty-free liquor, you can carry it on the plane, otherwise you have to pack it in your luggage. Chairman's Reserve is great rum - in April I paid $11USD for a 750ml bottle at the airport duty-free shop.

There is aslo a high end rum made by the same company that makes Chairmans Reserve, It is called Admiral Rodney and runs about 85 EC. Not worth the extra cost over the Chairmans Reserve IMO.

The supermarket has a good selection of rum at good prices.

2-6 is 26oz, which is 750ml.

Chairmans Reserve is excellent, you can get it in Waitrose if you want a taster before you go but it is a little expensive over here.

I think it's £17 a bottle here but the personally imported stuff tastes better - but it's much better watching a St Lucian sunset!

The bottles we bought at EC$40 were litres.

A 2-6 is a 26 oz bottle vs a 40 oz bottle that Albertans call a 40 pounder.

Chairman's Reserve Rum is on special offer at Waitrose till 7th December 2010. It has been reduced from £17.99 to £13.99.

Also, Chairman's Reserve Spiced Rum has recently been launched. It is quite sweet and has a pronounced orange taste, but I've only seen it in one or two shops so far.
