I am heading to Almond Morgan Bay on 7th Dec 2010 with a party of 19 for my neice's wedding. Can anyone tell me if there are many shops (apart from tourist shops) in Rodney Bay, which I think is close to us? You can tell we love shopping! Many thanks. Sandra.

There are lots of good shops in St Lucia. Avoid the duty free ones; they may be duty free but they are not profit free. There are lots of excellent shops on the street in Castries in front of the cathedral. The store front may not be to your expectation, but the goods inside will be.

Personally I don't find St Lucia a shopping haven. When I see a Lucian on the street wearing some clothing item I like and ask where they got it the answer is always the same "Miami". I'd save my shopping excursion for another destination.

I ditto Nevera. Although, now they have that big Baywalk Shopping Mall in Rodney Bay (next to Coco Palm), so not sure what all the stores are in there, but there's supposed to be quite a few (as well as a casino, but do not think that's opened yet).

There is a brand new mall just in the process of opening in Rodney Bay which is due to have a lot more variety than previously available. If it is local crafts you are looking for then the street market in Castries is the place to go. The new mall is also due to have a casino which I believe is scheduled to open in December. we're heading down around 7th December for a month. Enjoy the wedding sounds like fun with a nice sized group.

the mall is open when I was there but I agree it is not a shopping haven. Costs are a bit high as compared to north america.
