Compared to places like the BVI's and Bonaire there's not a lot of snorkeling on St. Kitts and even less on Nevis. Unless you have need for specialized equipment like prescription lens for your mask I'd leave your snorkel gear at home (it takes up room in your luggage. I doubt you'd be doing very much snorkeling on either island.
The best snorkeling is accessible only by boat and most "tour operators" resorts provide complimentary equipment. Rental equipment is also available on either island.
There is decent snorkling right in front of Timothy Beach. Most people that I have talked to really enjoyed it there and saw a lot of colorful fish. There is a reef right there. You can rent equipment from Dave's Watersports, right across the parking lot from Timothy and next to Mr X's Shiggidy Shack.
