Is it ridiculously hot in August and are alot of restaurants closed that time of year?

It's always hot in Tobago! considering it's only a few degrees off the equator. Trying to guess weather these days is near impossible with all the climate changes taking place worldwide. Very few restaurants are seasonal.

If you are staying higher up ie. the villas above Englishmans Bay the evenings tend to get a little cooler.

I don't think you will have a problem with restaurants in August but you will definitely find it more humid than the earlier part of the year.

This said, I wouldn't let this put you off visiting this beautiful island.
