Seeking suggestions how how to spend one day in Finger Lakes

We be will driving from Binghamton Area to Rochester Area in early June. We are two mid-60 couples in reasonably good health. Leaving as soon as we can with no commitments whatsoever during the day. Therefore we have all day to enjoy Finger Lakes scenery and perhaps stop at a couple State Parks and even enjoy a couple of non-stressful hikes. Looking for a suggested route and itinerary. Have no deadline in arriving to Rochester Area. Thanks .

I recommend Stony Brook State Park (Dansville) and Letchworth State Park (Mt. Morris/Geneseo) as they are only about 30 minutes apart and are not far from I-390 (the road to Rochester). Stony Brook is a lovely gorge with several waterfalls and the trail hugs the creek. Letchworth is the "Grand Canyon of the East" (not hyperbole) and has two easily accessible main waterfalls. There is also a lovely inn there, the Glen Iris, where you could have lunch. Both of these parks are just beyond the Finger Lakes proper but definitely worth considering.

Another option could be the Corning Glass Museum and Watkins Glen State Park (again about 30 minutes apart). The museum is excellent and the state park is gorgeous. The hike through the gorge is moderately strenuous. If the shuttle is running (it should be in June) you could walk down the gorge and take the shuttle back to the top to avoid any elevation.

I am partial to the Watkins Glen state park so agree with the above mentioned recommendations. Ithaca also has some lovely state parks (Buttermilk Falls and Robert H Treman. And a short drive away is Taughannock State park. Ithaca has tons of food choices, a wonderful Farmers market, Cayuga lake, Cornell botanical gardens and so much more.
