Hi Trip Advisor folks!
I am travelling with a friend this August in Borneo and we are planning a 3-4 day trip to Mulu. I've looked into the intermediate adventure caving and the one that looks the most appealing is the Drunken Forest Caves. I've contacted Mulu Park to see if we can book but they've said there must be a minimum of 3 people for this to go ahead. There's only 2 of us. SO.... if anyone is planning their Mulu trip around this time and likes the sound of Drunken Forest, would you like to book with us and do it together? Drunken Forest looks longer / more challenging / off the beaten track than some of the other intermediate caves so we'd really like to do this.
Also, does anyone have any recommendations for accommodation around Mulu? We've blown a lot of our budget so hoping to do this bit of the trip quite cheap... I have read that it is a lot cheaper to get accommodation just outside the park than stay inside - anyone have any recommendations and is it close enough to be feasible to do this?
One last thing... we want to go from Mulu to Semporna to go go diving. From what I can work out flights from Mulu have to go through KK and you can't get a connection on the same day (flights from Mulu arrive at KK 12.55pm, but the last flight from KK to Tawau is 12pm). So this means we'd have to stop another night in KK. Is this right? Anyone know of a way to go from Mulu to Semporna in 1 day as our itinerary is looking tight!
Thanks!
Stuart :)
