It's a very easy drive. Fly into Cabo. Look into Rental cars with Cactus Rentals or Dominic. I've had great experiences with both. You can search the Cabo forums for their reviews. They will quote you with the mandatory insurance included.
Two ways to get there. Both are good and give you a way to see some good sights. Check out a map. Either go up through Todos Santos on 19 on the Pacific side and get lunch there. Or Take 1 up through Triunfo and eat there.
You can be off the plane and in La Paz in 3 hours on a good day. Both ways are pretty drives and you're lucky you get to see some of the country side. That's part of what's great about Baja trips.
Easy drive whichever route you go however if you go around east side there are a lot of mountains and curvy roads but lots of cool little towns to stop in! either way it is about 2:45-3 hours from SJD Airport to La Paz
PacificNW is right. You don't have to drive into Cabo at all. As a matter of fact when we fly into there, we do our best to skirt Cabo and stay out of it the best we can. There's a nice toll road that will take you over the the Pacific side from the Airport and keeps you out of Cabo all together.Edited: 10 June 2017, 09:56
