Huntfest 2011 accomodations

My husband and I are going to Huntfest 2011 which is held at the River Cree Resort and Casino the first weekend of August. Staying on the property is too much money. Any hotel reccomendations that is some what close to the River Cree? We don't want to have to drive 1 hour each day to go and come back. So any accomodations that are 15 mins or less would be great. THANKS!

I have never been to the River Cree Resort, but note that on their website, they say they are five minutes from West Edmonton Mall (that may be a little optimistic...). Fantasyland Hotel is right in West Edmonton Mall, and the West Edmonton Mall Inn is right next door. In addition, the west end of the city, near the mall, has an area with a whole bunch of hotels/motels - Stony Plain Road/100th Ave NW, around 178th street - a Sandman, Wingate Inn, Travelodge, Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn etc. If you view the area with google maps and zoom in, a lot of the hotels will be shown - you can start with the map on their site and choose the "view larger map" link below the map: http://www.rivercreeresort.com/contact.php

Any of the hotels KRP mentioned should meet your 15 min. request. I wouldn't recommend the WEM Inn, though. It's main feature is being across the street from the mall. The mall is apparently getting an upgrade, and that hotel could use one, too.

I also echo krp's suggestion about using Google Maps to find a hotel on the west strip of Stony Plan Road as there very many from which to choose.

Hello. I live just outside of Edmonton. Last night i had a gentleman over who informed me that Huntfest has outgrown it`s previous venue and will be held at Northlands in Edmonton instead. I am doing my best to find more information. Feel free to send me an email at: back40gunner@gmail.com and as i learn more i`ll keep you informed. Thanks, Mark :0)

If Huntfest is being held at the Northlands site, I'd suggest staying downtown, somewhere like Alberta Place or The Coast. You can take the LRT to Rexall Place, which is adjacent, or drive downtown, as it is quick and there is ample parking on site.

Huntfest will definitely be held at Northlands, Aug 5-7, 2011:

Thanks for the info on it being moved to Northlands! I saw it on TV the other day, and now I'm just trying to buy tickets! The Wild TV site says to buy them from ticketmaster, but ticket master doesn't have them on their site, so I emailed ticketmaster and asked why I can't find them!
