Bike Rental

Hi,

I and my wife will visit Winnipeg for 3 days in early Nov. We are considering to rent bikes to travel around town, maybe also a little bit out of town but not too far. Is there any bike rental in Winnipeg? Is it easy to move around by bike? I looked up a bike rental shop website, but it is quite expensive to rent for a day.

BR,

Jimmy

Hi Jimmy, Welcome to the forum,

Are you talking about bikes are in motorcycles or bicycles? I am assuming you mean bicycles?

Since you are arriving in early November, I am sorry to report that is mostly likely will be quite cold for you to bicycle around town, and especially outside of the city. The landscape outside of Winnipeg is very flat and it can be very very windy. Since it will be November, the temperature will most likely below 0'c, so it will make very cold to ride a bike. Also there may or may not be snow at that time. Some years there is snow and some years there isn't.

As you have seen on search there are bike rental shops that do rent bikes, I am sure prices vary, so search around....but I am not sure that would be your best choice for exploring Winnipeg.

I don't drive. So, I want to cycle around. This may be quite cold to me at 0 degC and windy, not talking about snow or ice on ground. Any suggestion other than calling a taxi?

Where will you be staying? If you are going to be downtown, you can easily walk many places. We have a bus service. WinnipegTransit.com Winnipeg Transit has a free downtown shuttle service. Uber is attempting to set up in Winnipeg but I don't know if they will succeed or be in service by that time.

Re: bicycles There are a few hardy souls who ride bicycles year-round in Winnipeg. I wouldn't recommend it for visitors to the city who are not familiar with their surroundings.

Hi again Jimmy, There are organized bus day tours of Winnipeg I think, but not sure...you will have to google that....Please check here for some of the guided walking tours of other areas of Winnipeg. Some may or may not be available because it is not summer time.

This company does tours, but I believe it is seasonal and only runs in the summer time:

Maybe go on the Tourism Winnipeg site and email them and ask about day tour options. You can also use the public transit system to go around the city.
