Changes to bus services in Torbay from Sunday 25th March

Stagecoach is changing some of its routes and timetables from Sunday 25th March

The open-top "Hop 122" service will reappear for the season (first day of operation will be Saturday 24th March), operating daily until late October. There are some slight differences to the route this year; buses will terminate at Babbacombe Downs, operating in a one-way loop via Babbacombe Downs Road, Higher Downs Road, Hampton Avenue and Babbacombe Road. There will be new stops close to Babbacombe Theatre and the Model Village/Cliff Railway. Inbound journeys from Paignton Zoo will also divert via Penwill Road and Goodrington Road, with a stop close to Goodrington Sands and the Splashworld Quaywest Water Park - journeys towards the Zoo will still operate direct via Totnes Road. Buses operate every 20 minutes between 09.30 and 17.30, seven days a week.

There are some other changes from Sunday 25th March:

- route 12: some timetable changes to improve reliability during the Holiday period.

- route 22: some minor timetable changes. The extra Sunday journeys between Castle Circus and St Marychurch will no longer operate.

- route 31: minor timetable changes - no change to the route or overall frequencies.

- routes 32 and 34: These will be combined to become circular services between 08.00 and 19.00 on Mondays to Saturdays, with route 32 once again running to and from the Willows at these times. Buses will change numbers at The Willows and return to town via the other route, and through journeys will be possible (e.g. Chelston to Watcombe, St Marychurch to Torbay Hospital). Both routes will have new timetables, with daytime buses running every 20 minutes over the circular route; evening and Sunday buses will operate as at present, every 30 minutes.

Lastly, Our Bus Torbay, the Community Bus operator already responsible for route 60, is reintroducing the 65 route this week following a grant of £95,000 from Torbay Council for an extra minibus. This replaces the route withdrawn in April last year when Local Link ceased its local bus operations. The new route also takes in Mount Stewart Hospital, Truro Avenue and Osprey Drive to replace parts of route 64 that were also lost last April. One bus provides a service every two hours on Mondays to Saturdays, with departures from Torbay Hospital between 09.00 and 17.00 and from Torquay Harbour (stop C outside Debenhams) between 10.00 and 18.00.
