Norfolk with no car.

Wanting to travel from Lancashire in early June for four nights. We want to stay somewhere where we can get the train from Preston and then use public transport for trips out. Wish to visit Cromer (family connections), Sandringham and any other historical house in the area. Where would be the best place to stay? I don't drive but my husband does and a four and a half hour motorway journey does not appeal to him. Any suggestions very gratefully received!
