approx £12 in a private hire taxi... you must book these by telephone .... or you can flag/stop a black taxi anywhere in the street and take it .... this is more expensive and may cost around £16/18 to the airport

Best to jump in a black cab there will be plenty up and down Duke Street.

Go on the meter

6am -11pm Tarrif 1 will cost £13 - £14

11pm - 6am Tarrif 2 will cost £17 - £18

Private hire work off the sheet so can basically come up with any price they want to.

Cost me £14 from in a black cab from Lime Street station to Booker Avenue in L18, and that was 2 years ago at midnight on a Monday - and the taxi driver went the "long way" around Sefton Park .

When I pointed out the quickest route the driver snapped "I know the way!". Obviously not mate, because you ripped me off and you went the "long way" around.

I haven't been in a black cab since then.

I think some cabs must have dodgy meters !

Im sorry to hear that matt

It seems because of this incident you are now on a mission to try and turn people away from using Hackneys ! Why didn't you just take his number and report him to the council instead of trying to ruin a lot of honest and genuine cabbies livihood.

I'm sick of reading your mis quotes on this forum concerning Hackney cab fares.

Your mis leading the people who come on here for advice

Your telling them to get a bus which can take upto an hour and a half after they've waited around for it to turn up, rather than use the Hackneys situated outside and will take them 15 - 20 mins, sometimes for not much more if there is a gang of them.

This is the first time I have "quoted" a taxi fare, and that was a taxi fare that I paid 2 years ago.

You are making out that I constantly "misquote" taxi fares which is the opposite of the truth.

>"Your telling them to get a bus which can take upto an hour and a half after they've waited around for it to turn up"<

Am I ?

The 80A, 82A, 86A and the Airlink 500 to the city centre, plus the Airlink 501 to South Parkway station, are probably the most punctual bus services in Liverpool.

I should know because I work on the Speke Estuary Business Park which is served by the 80A, 82A, 86A anf the Airlink 500.

I don't recall ever having to wait "upto an hour and a half " for a bus home in the evening !

And your quoted journey time of "15 - 20 mins" from JLA to Liverpool city centre is very approximate - unless you are speeding. Hang on, that's what taxi drivers are best at, along with ignoring red traffic lights and every other rule in the Highway Code.
