The Dragon, Unicorn & Lion Dance Street Parade is usually at lunchtime on the Sunday in the Berry Street-Nelson Street area. Last year there was a "Taste of China" market in Great George Street and a firecracker display. The Blackie (old congregational chapel) usually hosts some events too.

Hi Silvana.

I work at the Liverpool Echo. We've recently created a guide to all the Chinese New Year celebrations in Liverpool 2013 and thought it may be of interest to you. You can find it here: http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-news/in-the-mix/2012/12/13/chinese-new-year-in-liverpool-2013-guide-to-parades-fireworks-festivals-and-more-100252-32419786/

Don't you just love the Echo?

Over 50 years ago I started work in an office in Castle St. When I left work at 5pm on my walk for my train from Exchange Station I used to buy my evening paper from a very fat guy who used to set up on the steps of Martins Bank ,I think, on the corner of Brunswick St.,could have been Fenwick St. His call was "Hexpress n Hecho".The Echo bought out the Express.

Paid him for the paper-he always said "Thank you Sir". A lifetime of inane memories.

I can't remember the last time I heard an Echo seller shouting "Echo", or even "Hecho" !

In fact there's not many street sellers left, not since Tesco opened a shop on virtually every street corner in Liverpool city centre. :-/
