An afternoon in Oxford with kids

Hi guys,

I am considering spending this afternoon with my kids 11,8,5 in Oxford. We have never been there before so I am not quite sure where to start.

We will be coming by car. How difficult is parking?

I have toyed with the idea of a treasure hunt, there are some you can download online. Has anyone tried these? I wonder if I could get my kids on board?!

Or should just stroll around, go punting. The weather is cloudy today but hopefully no rain

Any ideas?

This may be too late for your planning, but if not try the Pitt Rivers Museum. Always a favourite with us and discoveries for children of all ages. Very central as well.

Also fear I'm too late, but a second recommend for the Pitt Rivers Museum.

Also, use the park and ride services - quick, cheap and much easier than driving around central Oxford.

The University Parks are looking lovely this lunchtime if you wanted to let the kids run around. And of course, the Pitt Rivers is just a stonesthrow away.

St Giles Fair is on as well. Don't bring the car in - use the Park and Ride.

Hi guys,

Thanks for your responses. You are indeed too late because we have been and gone but I would like to share our experience for the benefit of others.

We ended up going to Oxford and doing a murder trail which we purchased online from www.treasuretrails.co.uk .

It was the most fun things I have ever done with my kids. I had 3 kids of varied ages running around this historic city searching buildings and monuments and clues for over 3 hours. As a Dad I can't think of any way I could have kept them busy any other way for this long.
