Family Day in Windsor on foot

Hi, just wondering about things to see and do in the town on foot. Family orientated ideally please (boys 11 & 14) that won't break the bank. We will be there next week. Is a stroll up to Eton College and environs worthwhile ? We will call to the Tourist Office but open to suggestions. Also any family friendly hostelries for pub grub would be great too please.

I would say a stroll along to Eton College is worthwhile as is a walk by the river. You could also walk down the Long Walk as far as the Copper Horse.

Duck tour might be fun for the boys.

You must try the boat trips. That'll probably be the highlight of te day. No need to book, just turn up. Highly recommend the King and Castle for food as the quality is good and its not expensive (much better quality and value then a hatvester). Its near mcdonalds. Castle is great but expensive (free for locals with advantage card. Queues can take an hour. Eton college and highstreet a fun walk but not a lot to see tbh.

I like the queen charlotte gastro pub opposite the castle. There's seating at the rear but it does get very busy with families - http://www.queencharlottewindsor.co.uk/
