Richy-UK_1 Thanks! I honestly did not know that. This now becomes the shortest (and quickest) Trip Advisor forum thread ever.
THere is actually 4 different routes between the two Cities!
2 from Queen St and 2 from Central.
However, as Richy says, the most frequent and quickest route is from Queen St via Falkirk High.
Trains every 15 minutes most of the day and only 49 minutes.
Oh...here comes Mad Scotsman ....my personal travel planner. Mad Scot saying there are different routes and several go from Central mean I'm not crazy after all! Guess this thread just got a little longer.
Trust me, as I described is the way to go!
That service is ScotRail’s Flagship route!
It's even more nuanced than that. There are trains to Edinburgh from both the high level and low level platforms at Queen Street. The faster services depart from the high level platforms.
Thanks RCspeirs I'm hoping for easy....not nuanced! But I will remember that advice when we're there. Thanks again!
Also, you can go on one route and come back on another.
There is even a fifth route via Cumbernauld and changing at Falkirk Grahamston.
You might just like to spend longer on the train enjoying the trip ;-).
(The Queen St to Edinburgh main route has just been electrified. Spiffy new trains are expected to come into service any day/week/month/year now.)
