Pub grub!

Looking for recommendations for the best pub food in the city centre .....particularly for Sunday afternoons. Nothing too noisy as meeting up with old friends and want to chat.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Counting House ( George Square) is a Wetherspoons but I believe is a no music venue!

You can’t get any more “pub grub” than a Spoons!

You can of course get a lot better food than a Wetherspoons.

Rab Ha's and Babbity Bowsters are better choices for decent food.

Come on MS, you must know somewhere better that 'Spoons terrible reheated rubbish!

The Maltman and the Auctioneers both do pub food. I've never eaten in either but I can't image they'd be worse than a Weatherspoons.

Although I just recommended Wetherspoons for breakfast which I think is ok and good value, I would avoid it for food. Last time I ate in the Stirling one I had their steak and kidney pudding. The steak was tough and I kidney eat it.

“Nothing to noisy”, “as want to chat”

My recommendation of the Counting House was based on that!

I haven’t been in the Counting House for years, if I recall they had a no music policy, is that still the case?

They also have small individual rooms off the main “Banking Hall”, therefore rendering it perfect for people catching up for a natter!

Pub Grub no matter where you go will be from one of the big suppliers (Bidvest, Brakes) so will invariably be of average quality and done in a Microwave.

The Bon Accord could fit the bill. Visited three times when in Glasgow and the food (plus ale) has never disappointed. Huge selection of whiskies although not really my tipple. The toad in the hole plus the pies are excellent. Maybe not for my waistline or cholesterol level, but it's only occasional, so......

The Baby Grand near Charing Cross railway station does very good food - not that great looking on the outside but nice bar inside. Just don't pick a time they are having live music ;-)

We really like The Bon Accord as well even if it is a few minutes extra walk from the city centre itself.

p.s. as well as the TA listing under pubs it is also listed under restaurants (I noticed the direct link took you to the pub listing) https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Rev…

How about Sloan's pub on Argyle Street bang in the city centre? Proper traditional pub with some cosy corners and a 'beer garden' for when the sun shines.
