Dublin Airport to Cork - train or bus?

Which would be easier/faster - bus or train from Dublin Airport to Cork? Looks like we'd have to go into the city to catch the train, is that correct?

Correct, there is a direct bus from the airport to Cork so it makes more sense to take that opttion rather than heading into the city to wait for a train.

Bus is easiest from the airport.

There's two bus companies on the route - Aircoach and GoBE.

I prefer GoBE's busses, but Aircoach are more frequent and cheaper.

Thanks! Why the preference for GoBE?

One of the main reasons is that all GoBE buses have a toilet onboard, which isn't true for all Aircoach buses. That said. the Aircoach ones that don't will have a comfort stop.

Another advantage is that GoBE uses the bus station in Cork, so you get the facilities there (although these aren't great) and it's easier to connect to city buses, regional buses and taxis.

Do you know where the Aircoach drop-off point is in Cork? Their website doesn't say. We're staying at the River Lee Inn.

The drop-off is at Patrick's Quay.

Is it the River Lee Hotel? I'm not familiar with the River Lee Inn.

It makes little difference then. Both buses drop 10-15 mins walk from your hotel. Add another 5 mins for the train station. You can use city bus 205 or 208 to get to your hotel or a taxi. Both buses stop outside the bus station. It's a 2 min walk to the other side of the river from Patrick's Quay to Patrick St where they also have stops.

A taxi would cost €10 euro or less from Patrick's quay or bus station to river Lee hotel it's only few mins drive from either
