Hi if you go certain days flybe do direct flights so cute out loads of time.
Fly from London Southend to caen carpiquet. We manage to do a Saturday and come back on a Tuesday for £163 for 2 adults x
We have Eurostar tickets and arrive in Paris at 12:47 on a Sunday. We need to get tickets for the train to Bayeux or Caen and rent a car there. I hope I can figure out where to rent a car on a Sunday afternoon. We have reservations for an all day D Day tour and will then stay a second night in Bayeux and then take the train to Paris on Tuesday.
You can rent a car from Hertz in Bayeux they are open 7/7. However, if you are coming in on Sunday and leaving Tuesday by train and are on an all-day tour on Monday do you really need a car? The whole of Bayeux is easily walkable.
Our itinerary is on Sunday, arrive Paris on Eurostar and then go to Bayeux and stay at the Chateau de Colombieres (1/2 hour from Bayeux), D Day tour on Monday, back to Paris on Tuesday. We thought we would need a car to go to and from Chateau, to go to town for dinner and back to the train station. Would we be able to Uber or get a driver for a reasonable price compared to a rental car? None of us speak French but can read maps, if that's a factor for driving from Paris. Thanks for your help!
Hi, as you are only staying 2 nights and doing a D-Day tour on your only full day, would it make more sense to stay in Bayeux so you can see the town (which is lovely) including the Tapestry and cathedral?
You could then walk to dinner spots and possibly to and from the station rather than the inconvenience, time and cost of transporting yourselves 1/2 hr each way to where you are currently staying.Edited: 18 February 2018, 21:01
We are really looking forward to staying in that castle even though it will be more challenging. Do you think a taxi or Uber is reasonable?
