Eurostar from London then train to Bayeux too much in 1 day?

Is it too much to try to take the Eurostar from London and then take the train to Bayeux for an overnight or 2 there? It will be on a Sunday morning in early June. Are any of the D-day tours and museums closed on Mondays? We'll be going to Paris after this.

Thank you.

There is no problem in travelling all the way on the same day. You should look at the websites of the activities that interest you to know their operating times. An alternative coming from the UK is to take Brittany Ferries from Portsmouth to Ouistreham (near Caen).

Take the ferry and drive or hire a car in Caen.

Eurostar and train to Bayeux is almost as fast as flying (taking into acount check-in times), especially if you are already staying in central London. Total journey time is about 6 hours. Museums are open and D-Day tours all run on a Monday.

We have Eurostar tickets and arrive in Paris at 12:47 on a Sunday. We need to get tickets for the train to Bayeux or Caen and rent a car there. I hope I can figure out where to rent a car on a Sunday afternoon. We have reservations for an all day D Day tour and will then stay a second night in Bayeux and then take the train to Paris on Tuesday.

If you want to pick up a rental car on Sunday afternoon, I think you will have to do it at Gare du Nord in Paris.

You can rent a car from Hertz in Bayeux they are open 7/7. However, if you are coming in on Sunday and leaving Tuesday by train and are on an all-day tour on Monday do you really need a car? The whole of Bayeux is easily walkable.

Do you all think we should take the train from Paris and rent a car in Bayeux, or should we rent the car in Paris and drive to Bayeux, or just use Uber and not rent a car at all?

Our itinerary is on Sunday, arrive Paris on Eurostar and then go to Bayeux and stay at the Chateau de Colombieres (1/2 hour from Bayeux), D Day tour on Monday, back to Paris on Tuesday. We thought we would need a car to go to and from Chateau, to go to town for dinner and back to the train station. Would we be able to Uber or get a driver for a reasonable price compared to a rental car? None of us speak French but can read maps, if that's a factor for driving from Paris. Thanks for your help!

Hi, as you are only staying 2 nights and doing a D-Day tour on your only full day, would it make more sense to stay in Bayeux so you can see the town (which is lovely) including the Tapestry and cathedral?

You could then walk to dinner spots and possibly to and from the station rather than the inconvenience, time and cost of transporting yourselves 1/2 hr each way to where you are currently staying.

We are really looking forward to staying in that castle even though it will be more challenging. Do you think a taxi or Uber is reasonable?
