Five recommended restaurants in the old town please

After two years away we are out of touch with the restaurants so if you have any faves could you give us five places.

Just the names will be fine, I can then get the details in the restaurant section, we like all types.

Thanks

These are my choices - they may not suit everybody!

Las Brasas de Alberto

Taberna Miguel

El Pescador

La Rada

Casa de mi Abuela

Now these are all 35-40€ a head with the wine, so probably only for special occasions!

Along Calle Caridad, Calle Malaga and Calle Real there are loads of places. Just stroll and have a look at what they are offering. At lunch time in particular there are lots of menu del Dia for €10 or less.

For an evening snack, try the Montadito de lomo ( a roll filled with hot grilled pork loin steak) in the Sabor Andaluz in the Calle Caridad. At roughly €2 or €2.50 each - and I can only manage one - they are tasty and great value.

Best wishes

Those sound lovely T

Can I have a couple in the next price down please

Do you still rate El Palange, high up just before the port?

I found a couple of simple places that look promising

Siopa Calle Real

Halo on a tapas place in the port.

Have you tried those?

We also like Bar Simonito just by where the bulivar development will be.

Yes, El Palangre, if you can find it. Not too easy!

El Meson Cordobes in the Plaza de las Flores.

Simonito, plus La Fragua just a few doors away in the Avenida San Lorenzo.

At the very beginning of the Calle Real, at the San Lorenzo end, there are two eating places, one each side of the road.

BuenaVista (it's the hotel) and Vista al Mar..

Plus right at the other end of the Calle Real there's that Rumanian-run restaurant which does a great Menu del Dia - Sol y Mar.

Happy eating!

Phil there has given his suggestions. It just shows that different people have different tastes and different experiences!

Sur we find variable. It can be good, as he says, then other times the food is grim. So we prefer Las Brasas de Alberto, just a few yards away, which is always reliable quality.

As for La Casa del Rey, it is highly regarded, but a bit poncey for me. 😁 Same as Casa Doña Jeronimo in the Plaza de las Flores. Pretentious, I think, but my (Spanish ) brother in law thinks they are great.

So tastes differ, and what is to my taste may not be to yours.

😁😁😁
