Getting around Zocca and Emilia Romagna

Hello, our party of four will be in the Emilia Romagna region, specifically near Zocca, in late November. What are some public transportation options (train, bus, etc). to get us to surrounding towns such as Florence, Pisa and Sienna? We are considering renting a car but would also like to know if there are public transport options. Also if you know of local sites or places we should see near our villa in Zocca, that would help. Thank you very much.

Hi, Zocca is a village located south of Modena, at about 50Km far.

You can reach Zocca by bus: the line is the number 700 and reach Vignola. From Vignola you can take another bus to Bologna or Modena. From Vignola there is even a local train to Bologna.

For bus lines refer to this map: setaweb.it/modena/…MappaProvinciaModena.pdf . Zocca is in D-7

By car you can reach the Tuscany driving to Pavullo, Sestola and then Abetone to reach Pistoia. Or you can drive to Porretta and make the "Porrettana" road.

Bye

Thank you Ricardo. This is very helpful. Do you know if I will need an international driving permit? Can I apply for a permit before I leave the US? I am an American citizen. Have a good day.

Yes JHDEPEW,

You will require an IDP in addition to your US licence.

Compulsory documents and safety equipment. Seat belts. Driving rules:

And you must secure the IDP prior to departing the US.

Go to your local AAA office they can help you get an IDA. I think about $12-$15.

You'll avoid a fine on the spot with the IDP JHDEPEW if stopped by police!

Yes, you can secure the IDP at AAA or the National Auto Club.
