Car rental after leaving Monterosso al Mare

My husband and I will take the train from Florence to La Spezio and stay in Monterosso al Mare for two nights (9/25 and 9/26). When we leave we want to rent a car to drive to Siena. Where is the best place to get a car rental?? Is it possible in La Spezio? Or should we take the train somewhere else to get a car rental? Also any advice on reliable car rental companies? Since it is less than two weeks away, will it be a problem to get a car rental? Additional detail is that after 3 nights in Siena, we will need to return to Rome on 9/30 for flight home 10/1, so where to return car rental - drive to Rome? Or return car in Siena and take the train to Rome?

All major car rental companies are in la Spezia. Maybe go through the broker www.autoeurope.com/ for immediate quotations.

There are direct buses from Siena to Rome autolinee.baltour.it/l/Home/455-1-en.html and trains with one change http://www.trenitalia.com/tcom-en
