Mount Etna

Hi,

My girlfriend and I are coming to Sicily for 4 days on this weekend (Friday-Monday).

We have full 4 days and I'm wondering if 1 day is enough to spend on Etna Mountation area.

What is the best way to travel the mountain in 1 day?

We have a rented car. I have climbing, hiking, and navigating experience but my girlfriend doesn't.

We would prefer something on our own without a guide.

Thank you!

Welcome to Sicily Johan w!

Decide after your first day if one day would suffice on the mountain.

Zafferana Etnea and Nicolosi are the gateway towns to Mount Etna and Rifugio Sapienza. There is a loop you can drive on the volcano from one to the other via Rifugio Sapienza where the Etna funivia is located - Rifugio Sapienza is the highest point you can drive on the mountain.

And then perhaps explore Etna Nord at Piano Provenzana via Linguaglossa.

Enjoy!
