Pisa or Lucca

Hi Everybody, We are a couple in our early forties and are going to Florence for 4 nights next July, we are wondering whether to spend the remaining 3 nights in Pisa (visiting Lucca & maybe Viareggio or similar coastal area by train) or should we stay elsewhere? We like good food, nice buildings, walks in the lovely Piazza's and generally people watching in cafes/bars. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There is more to Pisa than just one old building with poor foundations, but in my opinion Lucca is a more interesting place overall.

Lucca. It's a 30 minute regional train ride to Pisa Centrale.

Lucca gets my vote too.. amazing little walled town..Stay in Lucca and visit the field of miracles on one morning..agreed that Pisa has more than that, but Lucca is much more atmospheric especially if u stay inside the walls..

Many thanks to all of you, some interesting decisions to be made. Another question......which hotel to stay in Lucca? Budget up to £100 per night. TIA
