budget accommodation and travel in january

Hi,

I'm planning to travel to San Gimignano around the 20th January next year with a friend, and was wondering if there will be any budget hotels open at that time of the year to accommodate us?

Also, what would be the cheapest way of getting to and from San Gimignano around that time? We're looking to travel from Florence to San Gimignano and then to Rome afterwards.

Thanks in advance!

Look on booking.com or Sangimignano.com

From Florence either take the train or bus to Poggibonsi. It is a 40 minute bus ride from Florence and the bus runs hourly. I personally prefer the train which I find much more comfortable but it takes an hour to get to Poggibonsi from Florence. From there take the bus to San Gimignano.

The Tuscan countryside is beautiful therefore I advise you splurge and rent a car and drive around the beautiful countryside.

San Gimignano that time of the year is quite desolate. In my opinion it is beautiful unfortunately most places are closed, including hotels, restaurants cafes etc.
