Museum cards

Would someone please clarify for me what type of museum card should we purchase? The price is not the concern.

My husband and I are seniors and can’t wait in 3 hour lines.

I saw where you can buy skip the line tickets for the Ryks and Van Gogh.

Question is, do we need to buy the individual skip the lines tickets or does the I Amsterdam card allow you to skip the lines?

Thank you for any help in advance.

Kathy

If you are visiting about three museums then buying a museum card becomes worthwhile. You can buy it at the first location where you go. To avoid crowds you can also buy it beforehand at The Nieuwe Kerk when in Amsterdam dam square area if it’s before any of your museum visits. You still need to go online and book slots for Van Gogh museum and if interested then also in the Anne frank house visits.

If visiting only two museums then buy both the tickets online.

Iamsterdam card can be useful but not if visiting only a few places.

2 more clarifications, if I may. Is the Anne Frank entrance admission covered by the iA msterdam card? Can I book a time slot for the Anne Frank house on line 2 months out and use the iAmsterdam card for admission?

Same thing for Van Gogh.

Or, do I have to buy the card first then book time slot?

Thanks

If you are going to a lot of museums, you may want to check out the Museumkaart pass. That's what I am going to buy. https://www.museumkaart.nl You can compare all the cards at this site - https:/…amsterdamdiscount-cards - but keep in mind that only the Museumkaart gives you admission to the Anne Frank house, if you're planning on going there.

Kelley, as my post above says, the Anne Frank house is only covered by the Museumkaart. You can book ahead but when it asks for payment, there is an option for the Dutch Museum Pass (aka Museumkaart), so just click that. There is a small .50 fee and you will pick up the pass once you get to the NL>

The museum card is the one we will buy. We subscribe to the De Young Museum in San Francisco and go quite often. However, while it is busy, it is not so busy that they have gone to requesting visitors sign up for time slots to enter.

This forum provides such valuable information. Thank You

No you don't. If you have the Museumkaart then you can use the group entrance on the Paulus Potterstraat.

During the exhibition Van Gogh and Japan there is no ticket sale at the door. All visitors (including those with a museumkaart or any other card) must reserve a time slot online in advance;

I highly recommend that exhibit! I liked it so much, I’m going to see it again before it ends.
