Just been informed of building work next door to hotel for my holiday in July ,can anybody inform us of true expectations of to stay or move, cheers
Who knows. They have recently started the works after the site has been empty for ages. If they are building a new hotel, then that could go on for months. But if the money runs out then the work will stop.
Why not ask the person who told you for more information?
Then again it could be referring to the refurb of the Imperial Boat House, adjoining Muang, which was ongoing last June.
TBH last June there wasn't that much disturbance even though, at the time, they were digging out the beach side pool area. This refurb was supposed to have been completed this year but its Thailand so, as TM says, who knows.
Not staying in Choeng Mon until next June, I'm not concerned about any building works. That'll be too late for your info methinks.
the boat house i think is finished, there is a new hotel being built,i have a choice of staying there or moving a few hotels up the road to the sala which was my other choice
If the Boat House is finished then the new hotel won't be immediately next door to Muang.
The vacant building site stretched from Krua to Garland, which was closing. Roadside there would be at least 4 restaurants between the vacant lot and Muang, though beachside that gap would be likely be less. However Muang's beach frontage was the pool area and the rooms set back closer to the road.
I hope the Boat House refurb is finished but I can't find any room availability....it would be surprising if they were 100% full
Edited: 5 years agoThe Imperial Boat House renovations are still ongoing, definitely not finished yet. This is what is next door to Royal Muang.
Thanks for that,it also looks like there is building work a couple of lots up the beach as well. They have offered me the sala further up the beach ,which i am debating on moving to.Has anybody got an option on either
If you're not bothered about being on the beach how about Baywater resort.
Opposite Sala. Not stayed there personally but friends have and they raved about it.
Problem is I’ve booked with a travel agent and that’s not on there list
Sounds like its Sala or Muang.
TBH I'd choose Muang. Any building noise is likely to be minimal and easily offset by the better beach, better pool and surrounding area, and central location for restaurants/bars
They have now offered a different option of the Anantara Lawana
