There are several taxi companies in Copenhagen.
Just take any taxi from the rank at the airport (they are all licensed). No need to book in advance - there are always plenty of taxis at the airport. If your luggage does not fit in a 'normal' taxi for max 4 persons, they have larger taxis available.

What is the cost of a taxi from the airport to downtown?
A taxi for max 4 persons would be approx. DKK 200.
I have read that it is difficult to get a taxi from the port in Copenhagen. We wish to go from the port to Gammel Strand. Does anyone know of the name of a taxi service I can book in advance? The one I found on line (cabforce.com) will charge more than 80 euro and this seems quite high.
Can 5 people (adults) fit into a taxi?
Four people to a regular taxi, five will need a minibus type taxi.
Having just returned from Copenhagen (went on a Baltic cruise), our experience was that there are plenty of taxis at the port. There is a dispatcher, and he'll direct you to your taxi. Taxis know when cruise ships arrive and will come to the port to pick up passengers. For 3 people, there are sedans, for 4 people, they have station wagons and for up to 8 people they have minivans. It is very convenient and not a problem at all. If there are a lot of passengers, you might have to wait in line, but you will get a taxi. I would like to mention that taxis do accept international credit cards, you just tell them you will sign (vs. chip and pin). There was a surcharge for using our American Visa card. In the receipt, it will appear as "gebyr." Same applies to using the American cards in restaurants or stores. This surcharge will be higher for Amex cards.
Thank you for the information. Will look out for the minivan taxi and see what their charges are. Otherwise, I guess the 5 of us can take the train to the Central Station. Any idea how far is the walk from the Central Station to Phoenix hotel?
