Staying in Ilfracombe for a long weekend in March. We would like a good Sunday roast, which pub/restaurant would you recommend?
In Ilfracombe itself or in the locality? If the latter, The Hele Bay Inn used to be good, the Williams Arms in Braunton does a nice carvary and the Barnstaple Hotel won an award from the local paper a while back, as well.
Living in this area: the choice isn't great and the area is suffering an "economic downturn". The Hele Bay Pub in Hele, and Alfie & the Kaiser Steakhouse in Ilfracombe, have done Sunday lunches in the past. By far our best suggestion for a professional establishment with friendly staff and good quality (packed in season), would be The Pack O' Cards in Combe Martin EX34 0ET. Phone: 01271 882300. It's about five miles away from the Combe.
At "The Pack" we've not paid more than a tenner for a v. good and plentiful Sunday lunch on its own. Drinks are not cheap though. Couldn't recommend the area otherwise. This is just our opinion and we have no connections or vested interests.Edited: 21 February 2017, 05:34
