Travelling from Civitavecchia train station to cruise port

We will be sailing out of Civitavecchia on April 18 and will be arriving at the train station from Rome. What is the best way to get to the port and would I still need a shuttle to the ship. How far is the train station from the port so that I allow myself enough time?

It is a bit over a mile from the Civitavecchia train station to the port entrance. There are usually taxis waiting and will quote a fare of 10-20 Euros to take you to the port. In addition, some times there is a bus that runs from from the station to the port entrance and from there you take a fairly short shuttle to the ship. If you want to be at the ship boarding area by 3 PM, for example, take a train that will get you to Civitavecchia about 2:15.

Also note that the trains from Termini to Civitavecchia may leave from one of the back platforms (#25+?), so allow an extra ten minutes when you are leaving Rome.

Regional trains from Rome Termini to Civitavecchia depart from the auxiliary tracks #25-29, three blocks from the main track head. If you are changing trains be sure to allow yourself enough time to make the walk.

The IC and Frecce trains to Civitavecchia depart from the main track head.

The train station at Civitavecchia, located on Viale della Repubblica, is one mile from the port entrance at Via Turco. You can either take a taxi from the train station directly to your ship or you can walk or take a public bus to the Via Turco entrance/exit where you pick up the free port shuttle bus.

Hullo Loly,

The main entrance is just a five minute walk from the train station, but then you would probably need to add the time to your cruise dock. However, should you have a heavy luggage or any special needs, there used to be a free shuttle service purposelu activated for cruisers, and it used to buffer to and fro each some thirty minutes. If in need of other directions you can, reply to mehere or give a look at our community mainteined tourist info page for civitavecchia (civitavecchia.co.uk). One quick tip: the one way ticket to civitavecchia from Rome should not cost you more than 5 EUR ;)

The price from Rome to Civitavecchia on local trains is the same no matter when you purchase.

Can anyone clarify the bus situation from the train station to Via Turco? Is there a public bus and a private coach and how much is each? Thanks, DV.

Saw lots of people just walking to the station or hotels from the port. It's a very flat walk, no hills, and smooth sidewalks. Easy walk to the station.
