Island of murano

Hi, I am going to riva in September with the travel department staying in the grand hotel Liberty. There will be excursions as part of our package but I would like to visit the island if murano and maybe burano and was wondering if it is doable as a day trip from riva or is it too much hassle.

Thanks in advance

Catherine

Murano is for glass, if you are not buying a large piece (or expensive) don't bother, there is very little to see other than glass stores and salesmen. Burano is worth it.

I disagree. I think Murano is a charming island. It has four beautiful and historic churches, lovely canal views

and some of the glass jewellery, which is all I buy, is unusual and special, my favourite is Orovetro near Colonna stop.

Hi. It would be a busy day; the organized tours using the bus and then the travel time would be about 3 hours / 3 hours and a half. Then you have to consider the way of the vaporetto; from Piazzale Roma to Murano, about 25 minutes taking the faster line. If you choose Burano, certainly much more attractive than Murano, the journey time is about an hour.

Hi Lynn. Beautiful pictures! Nevertheless, I still prefer Burano (where there are many cats) :-)) http://postimg.org/image/eluie0xr9/
