Would you kindly recommend how to get from CDG Airport to Les Sables (Mar 2014 planning) and timing either via train, car or plane please? Houseswap organised for a month in Mar/Apr next year and even tho it may be cold and wet, excellent opportunity to explore a new area. Any advice appreciated, if we take a car we would enjoy exploring small villages/attractions en route and have nil timing constraints. Thanks
Although Les Sables d'Olonne has a rail service it is a bit out on a limb, being at the end of a branch line from La Roche-sur-Yon which in turn is on the line between Nantes and La Rochelle. If you need to hre a car anyway, it might be a good idea to take a direct train from CDG to nantes or Poitiers and hire a car there for the final leg through the Vendee. By the way it may be a good dea to use the full name of the town as there are seeral es Sabes around France.

There is quite a lot of information about the trains but unfortunately you are not able to see timetables or book any further than 3 months in advance. We are also going to Les Sables d'Olonne (29 October 2013) but cannot get times etc, as yet.
The timetable to end of Sept shows four or five trains going CDG to L S d'O
Car hire in France is very expensive - does your home swap family have a car that you can swap with too.. Good luck and take some woolies - it's colder than Tasmania that's for sure.
There is a direct TGV from Paris CDG to Nantes, takes 4 hours. There is also a TGV from Paris Montparnasse direct to Les Sables D'Olonne.
