We normally go bits from either Dunnes/Supervalu or Tescos, although moreso Supervalu. Just got bits and bobs as we needed them, ie, bread, milk, potatoes, etc. We didn't do a big shop, so we spent say 20€ to 30€ at a time.
We tended to eat breakfast/dinner (ie,your evening meal) in the cottage, whereas sometimes grabbed lunch out.
Okay as I read your question you are asking the price for a hotel or pub/restaurant Sunday lunch after mass. Usually for an adult in rural Ireland you can budget around 15 - 20 euros per person and for younger children you ask for a half portion per person at around half the adult price. Remember also that soft drinks (coke/minerals) push up the price considerably.
Thank you both for your input. They will help a great deal.
Tesco Ireland is way too expensive for many things (even their UK stores are getting silly, price wise).. Aldi and Lidl have stores in Carrick on Shannon & Cavan for basics.
yes I found supervalu pardon the pardon best value. If I remember correctly there is one not that far from there.....but this is going back to remembering October 2011, so it might be a bit patchy.
That would figure as we stayed near Boyle in this tiny hamlet. We tended to use it on the way back
I like Lidl also. :).
