It was a dark and stormy night june 27th....

when we arrived at the Camaguey airport after 5 p.m. The ominous clouds in the distance fortold a major storm was pending!!! It looked like something out of ghost busters!Of course, Sunwing was right on top of it! By departure time it was obvious something was uip and it wasn't us. 30 minutes later ifo overhead announced that no plane had arrived...lol. by then it was thundering and lightening to beat the band. 30 minutes after that it was announced the plane was delayed... no kidding. 30 minutes later we were informed our plane was in Jamaica!!!! rofl. 2 1/2 hrs. later the storm had passed , our plane arrived and we departed. Thought maybe the plane had dropped off and picked up passengers at Varadero... certainly Jamaica wasn't on our list. at 11 p.m. Sunwing fed us snack paks of bottled water, pop, submarine ham and cheese and a large can of pringles. We don't know if the Varadero Camaguey people on the plane were allowed off in Jamaica or left sitting from 4.15 p.m. until after midnite arrival at Camaguey. A long day's journey into night for sure. regards. carol e.p.s. it could have happened to any airline!!!!

We've had some storm problems too. 6 hours in Toronto this year while they were down to one runway.

We suck it up like you Carol. It's part of the deal.

Welcome back to Pickering, safe and sound.

When do you go next?

could have been worse! when airtrans abandoned us at the veradero airport at 6 p.m. last november. we had no contact with them as our flite disappeared off the monitors after we cleared customs. we were left hanging 10 until departure time, no food vouchers or info. and their response when emailed on return about lack of said info was... don't call us, we might call you!!! further response was a rude in your ear, we don't give out vouchers etc. needless to say their current problems with transport canada are no surprise. at the bottom of my list to book! carol e. and johnny c., not planning to come into b.c. so relax. lol. carol e.

We had fog issues in January with Airtransat. They tried to fly into Hamilton but couldn't because of the visibility so we circled and we circled and we circled. Then they told us we might have to fly into Toronto and we flew to Toronto and we circled and we circled and we tried to land and suddenly up we went abruptly. No Airtransat reps to meet us in Toronto to tell us where to catch the buses that were coming to take us to Hamilton-by this time it's well past 2am. Stood outside waiting for buses in -0 degree weather. Then we find out a couple days later that the control tower wasn't notified that we were landing in Toronto and we almost landed on top of another plane that was on the runway. PUKE. lol

"the control tower wasn't notified that we were landing in Toronto and we almost landed on top of another plane that was on the runway. "

Please give a link to the media coverage of this event, as it seems highly unlikely, and would be all over the media if it ever happened. Radar identifies every aircraft in the vicinity and commercial aircraft have transponders that are unique to them. Not to say mistakes in clearances don't happen, but they are front page news when they do! (You simply cannot land without a clearance and any pilot doing so would be out of a job. Mistakes happen with misunderstood communications and are extremely rare)

Oh carol e... it was only more rock and roll but nobody likes that song :-)

Wasn't much else Sunwing could do but sounds like they handled it well...Mother nature can be a bit.h from time to time :-)

Looks like Airtransat could be the new airline to mess up/bash/pass on...damit! I got airmiles :-)
