Ibis hotels - which is best?

Can someone please help - I am booking a trip to Sydney for my parents - want to be very close to main tourist attractions and walking distance to cafe/ restaurants etc. Am trying to decide between Ibis King St Wharf or Darling Harbour? Any suggestions or other hotels would be appreciated.

Thanks

How much are they prepared to pay per night? When will they be here?

King st is a slightly better location IMHO. All Ibis rooms are very small.

They arrive on 6th Oct and are staying in Sydney for 3 nights. Was kinda working on a budget of 120- 140 Euro per night. Location is the deciding factor really! Any other suggestions?

The problem will be that their dates include a saturday night when rates increase. It is also the labour day long w/end & rugby league grand finals, so I would be booking asap!

On such short notice I'd recommend a quick search of your favourite online booking site such as hotels.com or wotif.com.au as you will likely get a good rate at hotels that still have vacancies. I just did a quick hotels.com search and found Medina Grand Harbourside for $573 (about 415 euro) for the 3 nights. This is in a great location right next to the Ibis and offers a studio apartment. Much better value for a 3 night stay!

Hello!

In terms of being close to tourist attractions, I think the most important question is what sort of things to your parents want to see?

Darling Harbour and King St Wharf do seem popular with tourists (for 'Australiana' things like the aquarium and that pricey wildlife park). IMO, both areas (they are very close to each other) have just a little too much artificiality about them - but lots of people seem to like the areas.

If your parents want to spend time on the harbour by catching ferries to Manly or Taronga Zoo, if they want to be able to easily travel to the Eastern Suburbs (for Bondi, Bronte, Coogee etc), if they want to spend time in the Gardens or easily get to inner-eastern suburbs like Paddington (e.g. for the markets), then you might be better off looking at places that are closer to Circular Quay or in the CBD proper. Darling Harbour/King Street Wharf are still close to lots of these things, but in terms of location (which seems to be your primary consideration) your parents could be better positioned.

As the others have suggested, do contact the hotels as soon as possible!

Happy planning!

Hi,

Definitely do a quick search on wotif to see what is available. As mentioned its a busy weekend & you will have to pay more on Saturday night.

120.00 EUR = 165.646 AUD

You will need to book asap as wotif appears to be busy for those dates.
