Wildlife park (in sydney), featherdale or taronga zoo?

Hihi,

Would like to check opinions on the above. I have a full day allocated to visit the australia animals! Haha (I am sure they r happy to know this)

Which would give my dad (60+yo) and a young sister (18yo) a better experience? They r both animal lovers! I think having the opportunity to interact with koala bears and kangaroos will make them happy

Pls enlighten me on the questions below

I read that wildlife park and featherdale only warrants 2 hours?

Featherdale provides a more interactive session w the animals compared to taronga zoo?

Maybe I shd have one day for the zoo and 2hrs for the wildlife park? Hmmm what do I expect in a wildlife park?

Thanks guys!

Welll ... I like Taronga Zoo but I'm not fussed about Featherdale. I could spend all day at Taronga but only a couple of hours at Featherdale.

I haven't been to Wildlife Sydney but one of these days ....

There are some special deals at the moment for some attractions including Wildlife Sydney at Darling Harbour and with a few people to keep happy, this is definitely the cheaper option while getting see some Aussie animals. Read the T&C to see if the deal is still on when you arrive.

PS - there's also the Aquarium near Sydney Wildlife at Darling Harbour.

<< interact with koalas >> you can't actually nurse koalas in NSW but the Wildlife Zoo at Darling Harbor does allow SOME patting... not guaranteed though. The benefit of the zoo at the harbor is travel time ... it's in the city and easy to get to and as Doug said the aquarium is also there which I find fascinating. As far as I know Taronga does not provide encounters with native animals except for koalas ... but it's a great zoo and a good day out.

Hi,

Tarong Zoo would be my pick as the ferry ride from Circular Quay is spectacular in its' own right as is the setting of the zoo.

You can easily spend the best part of a day there and interact with some critters. The snake and reptile show is not to be missed not only for the critters but for the reactions of some of the visitors.

Cheers,

Hey,

I'd recommend going to Taronga Zoo in its own right first, and if you're unsatisfied (unlikely) then check out the new Wildlife World thing at Darling Harbour. Lots of tour companies offer attraction passes that allow you to go to "any 3" or "any 5" etc of attractions in the city, so if you change your mind you can go to the aquarium or take a cruise instead.

Hi! Taronga Zoo is pricey! But if you're in Australia to see the animals, Featherdale is definitely the way to go. Although they don't have the generic zoo animals I don't think- like hippos and all that jazz, they have all the Australian animals. Same with the Wildlife World in Darling Harbour.

Featherdale is quite hands-on, you can pet koalas and the kangaroos roam the area, and you get food in cups and can pet them and feed them. Featherdale is not located in Sydney though, so allow yourself 1-1.5 hours to get there!

Definitely, a wildlife park rather than Taronga Zoo. Wildlife World in Darling Harbour would be the easiest to ge t to if you're staying in the city, or Featherdale in the west. If you have your own transport (car), then I would recommend Symbio wildlife park in the south.
